PlantStream Announces Two AI Features

— Early Access for P&ID Parsing Tool “PlantStream AIDE” and
Pre-Release Notice for “PlantStream with AI Agent” —

August 7, 2025

PlantStream Inc.(Headquarters: Minato City, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Takehito Miki; Co-CEO: Takeshi Oda; hereinafter “PlantStream”) announces two AI capabilities to accelerate plant design.

The early access program for the P&ID parsing AI tool “PlantStream P&ID AI Data Extractor” (hereinafter “PlantStream AIDE”) began in late July 2025, with the official release scheduled for this winter.

PlantStream is also preparing for the release of “PlantStream with AI Agent,” which enables layout adjustments of 3D models through natural-language instructions.

PlantStream is also accepting requests for custom and co-development of AI features tailored to each customer’s requirements.

Background and Overview

In current PlantStream 3D model creation workflows, substantial effort is required to prepare From-To information and adjust initial layouts. To address these challenges, PlantStream aims to accelerate early-stage design by (1) automating data extraction with PlantStream AIDE and (2) simplifying and automating operations with PlantStream with AI Agent.

In addition, the company offers flexible custom development and co-development of AI features optimized for each customer’s design standards and operational practices—thereby improving efficiency and productivity across the plant engineering industry.

1. PlantStream AIDE (Early Trial Access Now Available)

Overview

AI automatically extracts and compiles piping connection information (From-To list) from uploaded P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), replacing manual processes and accelerating the transition from From-To list creation to 3D model design.

Key Features
  • Automatic P&ID diagram analysis: AI extracts and lists lines, nozzles, equipment, and more from P&IDs.
  • One-click validation & correction: Review in a confirmation screen and apply corrections with a single click.
  • Integration with PlantStream: Import the generated From-To list into PlantStream to smoothly proceed to automated pipe routing and 3D modeling.
  • Change tracking: Quickly identify P&ID changes and reflect them in the 3D model to minimize rework.

Workflow Change Overview
Implementation Benefits (According to our research)
  • Approximately 50% reduction in man-hours to create From-To lists.
  • Up to 74% reduction in man-hours from From-To creation through 3D modeling
  • Significant reduction in human error
  • Immediate propagation of P&ID changes to the 3D model to reduce rework
Availability
  • Early access: Open now (accepting demo requests and literature inquiries).
  • Official release: This winter (planned to be offered as a cloud-based SaaS).

2. PlantStream with AI Agent (Preparing for Release)

Overview

An AI agent that executes design actions from natural-language prompts, eliminating complex click sequences. Simple commands—such as “move this area as a group” or “align equipment”—automatically adjust 3D model layouts.

Examples of What It Can Do
  • Operate PlantStream via prompts: move, align, duplicate equipment; batch placement adjustments, and more.

Demo Videos

Batch Move by Area

Reposition all equipment within a designated area using a single prompt

Auto Alignment

Automatically align equipment layout via prompt commands — no manual work needed.

Upcoming AI Features (Examples)
  • Equipment Spacing Check Based on Design Standards: Check unit spacing according to design standards using PlantStream
  • Safety Distance Validation: Automatically check safety distances between process areas, utilities, and other structures
  • Maintainability Check: Easily verify and correct clearances for valves, operation areas, overhead paths, etc., using prompt commands.
  • AI-Powered Resolution Guide: Simply ask, “How do I resolve warning P12-0-V000000?” to get a list of possible causes and resolution steps.

About PlantStream

PlantStream is a 3D CAD software solution designed for automatic spatial planning in plant engineering—including layout, piping, civil, architectural, electrical, and instrumentation design.
Developed through a collaboration between Chiyoda Corporation (a major global EPC firm) and Arent Inc. (experts in 3D CAD development), PlantStream was launched in 2020.

By incorporating proprietary routing algorithms based on real-world plant design practices, PlantStream enables rapid and accurate piping and cable layout.
Whereas conventional piping design could take up to 2 hours per line, PlantStream can automatically generate up to 1,000 lines in just one minute.

Currently, more than 30 engineering firms and plant owners, both in Japan and internationally, use PlantStream.

We remain committed to solving challenges across the global plant industry by supporting design efficiency and digital transformation (DX).
If you are facing issues related to design workload, labor shortages, or early-stage design quality, feel free to reach out for a consultation.
