PlantStream Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo), developer of the automated 3D piping design CAD software “PlantStream,” has officially released a data integration package with Aspen Capital Cost Estimator™ (hereinafter, “ACCE”), AspenTech’s capital cost estimation tool widely adopted by chemical, oil, and infrastructure companies around the world.
This integration bridges early-stage cost estimation with detailed design, enabling a unified workflow from conceptual design to execution.
The new package allows equipment lists and facility data created in ACCE to be automatically converted and imported into PlantStream. What was previously a manual process can now be performed seamlessly and quickly by converting ACCE output files (e.g., CSV) directly into PlantStream’s modeling format, significantly accelerating layout planning.
While ACCE enables early-phase MTO (Material Take-Off) estimation, PlantStream enhances this by generating highly accurate MTOs based on actual 3D models of equipment and piping. This leads to more realistic quantity evaluations that reflect detailed layouts.
Moreover, models created in PlantStream can be exported to detailed engineering CAD systems such as Smart 3D (S3D), AVEVA E3D, and Intergraph P3D. This enables a fully integrated workflow, maintaining both data fidelity and continuity from early design through downstream processes.

PlantStream is an automated 3D CAD software designed for spatial planning in plant engineering—covering equipment layout, piping, civil/structural, electrical, and instrumentation design. Its core strength lies in advanced auto-routing capabilities.
Launched in 2020, PlantStream combines the extensive industry knowledge of Chiyoda Corporation, a major player in the global plant engineering market, with the 3D CAD technology expertise of Arent Inc.
With a routing algorithm developed from real-world engineering expertise, PlantStream enables fast and precise piping and cable layout. What traditionally took two hours per pipe can now be automated to generate 1,000 pipes in just one minute.
Today, PlantStream is used by over 30 companies globally, including engineering firms and plant owners. Going forward, PlantStream will continue to support the digital transformation and productivity improvement of plant design and contribute to solving global engineering challenges.
